Furniture shopping is so stressful. Browsing is fun, but actually purchasing is quite another thing because when you find things that you really like and will probably like for quite some time they will, almost invariably, cost you quite a bit of money. If you're a restless soul like me, a good sofa or dining room set will stick with you much longer than any residence.

It's sort of like getting married. ...Only my dining table doesn't tell me when it's feeling unappreciated.

Good news. The swelling around my eye is going down and it appears I will not develop a black eye.

In other news, while cleaning out my digital camera after a site visit today I came across this image and it made me sigh. Fall is here. No more sandcastles this year.

I think I may have given myself a shiner.

This morning while groggily fumbling around to hit snooze on my alarm clock I knocked it off the nightstand. So now the alarm clock is on the floor, still screeching at me. I heaved my shoulders over the edge of the bed to reach down and retrieve the alarm clock. Unfortunately I miscalculated my position and as I threw my torso over the edge of the bed, I also managed to throw my left eye squarely into the corner of the nightstand. And when I say "throw" I don't mean "gently nudge". I mean throw. Now the area below my brow bone is very tender and I have a lovely headache.

I think there's a good chance I'll be wearing shades to work tomorrow.
